PURPOSE:
To Appropriate an Amount not to Exceed $8,700 from the Super District 6 Reserve for Appropriations to Out of Hand Theater Inc for Two Educational and Civically Engaging Theatre Productions in 2026.
NEED/IMPACT:
Out of Hand Theater fuses art, information, and conversation to drive social change in Atlanta through community-based theater and storytelling. This appropriation supports two productions in 2026, one on March 20 and one in July. The production on March 20 is Shows in Homes: Prisontown which aims to shed light on the nation’s immigration crisis and includes a monologue (about an hour) with a short panel discussion.
Funding will go towards having onsite the actor, stage manager, and Project Manager as well as administration of the program. The production in July is We Hold These Truths, a theatrical and civic engagement initiative commemorating America250. Using the power of art as a tool for community healing and building a path forward, this project fosters national reflection and conversation about the evolving meaning of America-past, present, and future. We Hold These Truths features a performance of an original 10-minute play, a short talk to introduce terminology, facilitated small group conversation at each table, and a full group closing. Funding for We Hold These Truths will go towards project direction, artistic direction and hiring, staff and admin support, and facilitator hiring / training.
Funding also allows these programs to be free to the public, up to venue capacity, allowing anyone to participate in the discussion and educational opportunity.

Recommended Action
To approve the allocation of $8,700.00 from the 2026 District 6 Reserve for Appropriation to Out of Hand Theater Inc and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or her designee to execute all necessary documents.
