PURPOSE:

An item to allocate $5,000 to the DeKalb Schools Educational Foundation, Inc. from the District 7 Reserve for Appropriations funds to support State of the District educational programming, including teacher‑led and student‑inspired projects that advance literacy, strengthen teacher enrichment, and promote mental and physical well‑being, as well as funding field trips so all students can participate regardless of ability to pay; during the 2025-26 school year, these grants are expected to benefit 4,000 students and 200 teachers across the District.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Allocating $5,000 to the DeKalb Schools Educational Foundation, Inc. is important because the State of the District initiative directly strengthens educational programming across the county by funding teacher-led and student-inspired projects that improve literacy, support teacher enrichment, and promote mental and physical well-being in our school communities. This investment also ensures equitable access to field trips so that every child can participate regardless of a family’s ability to pay, expanding learning beyond the classroom and enriching student experiences. During the 2025-26 school year, these Foundation grants are expected to reach 4,000 students and 200 teachers across the District, making this allocation a high-impact contribution to academic success, educator support, and student wellness.
