PURPOSE:
To authorize funding to allow the DeKalb Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission to implement the programs and initiatives determined by the Commission to fulfill its responsibility in FY2017 for marketing and leading strategic initiatives that attract film and entertainment projects to DeKalb County.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Board of Commissioners established through ordinance the DeKalb Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission. The Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission is charged with marketing and leading strategic initiatives that attract film and entertainment projects to DeKalb County. The DeKalb Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission works closely with Decide DeKalb and DeKalb Count, providing leadership and strategic direction on issues related to the film, music recording and production, and entertainment industries. The DeKalb Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission budget proposal was presented to the Committee of the Whole, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. The budget proposal includes funding of the 2017 Work Plan, including:
• Strategic Plan Development and Implementation
• Entertainment Speaker Series and Workshop Events
• Online Film Permitting Integration
• Workforce and Education Initiatives
• Identify and Execute Strategic Partnerships & Sponsorships
• 68 Entertainment Strategic Plan Recommendations
Approval of this item will fund the 2017 Work Plan of the DeKalb Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$205,000 to be funded from the General Fund Economic Development budget
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To reestablish the General Fund Economic Development budget at $205,000 to fund the DeKalb Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission and decrease the General Fund projected year end reserve the same amount.
