PURPOSE:
To appropriate $15,500 from the 2023 District 2 Reserve for Appropriation funding to the Central DeKalb Senior Center for the Lunch n Learn series and a new sound system.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Central DeKalb Senior Center (CDSC) provides a Lunch n Learn series with educational and informative presentations from various community partners, county staff, and commissioners to engage the senior community while encouraging them to return to the center and socialize with one another, thereby reducing isolation. An estimated 50 CDSC members attend these programs at $15 per lunch for a total of $750 per month for an annual cost of $9,000.
To facilitate programming at the CDSC, a new audio system is needed to eliminate static and feedback. This appropriation from District 2 will support the Lunch n Learn programming and the new sound system at the CDSC.

Increase appropriations for the following accounts by the amount indicated below:

Fund Reserves - Unincorporated Fund - Budgetary Reserves (09610.579013.272.0000.0000) - $15,500
Decrease appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:
Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Reserve for Appropriation (09130.579002.272.0000.0000) - $15,500
Fund Reserves - General Fund - Budgetary Reserves (09610.579013.100.0000.0000) - $15,500
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the appropriation of $15,500 from the 2023 District 2 Reserve for Appropriation funding to the Central DeKalb Senior Center for the Lunch n Learn series and a new sound system and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
