PURPOSE:

To consider approving an extension of an Intergovernmental Agreement (“Agreement”) between the County and the City of Brookhaven for the use of the building, property and premises located at 3292 Buford Highway, Brookhaven, GA 30329 for parking and break facilities for County public safety, fire and emergency services personnel, contractors, and subcontractors through June 30, 2026. The Agreement was approved in October 2018 to be effective from November 1, 2018, through October 31, 2023, and extended through December 31, 2024 on June 25, 2024 at the continued approved rate of $3,000 per month to ensure continuity in the provision of fire and rescue services while the County and City discussed the Agreement and term. This Item seeks approval of extension of the Agreement through June 30, 2026, at the current approved rate of $3,000 per month.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Agreement signifies a mutually beneficial, efficient and cooperative working relationship between the two governments and the extension will provide County public safety, fire and emergency services personnel, contractors and subcontractors with continued use and access to the property for parking for emergency vehicles, office uses, restrooms and breakrooms and ensure continuity in services.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

$54,000.00 is the total cost for the extension from January 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

  Approve an Extension of Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Brookhaven for Public Safety, Fire and Emergency parking and break facilities through June 30, 2026. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer or his designee to execute all necessary documents in a form acceptable to the County Attorney.
