PURPOSE:

To allocate an amount not to exceed $25,550.00 to the City of Avondale Estates for a mural at the
overpass portion of the Stone Mountain Trail and a utility box mural project. Budgets for the mural and
utility box projects are attached.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The funds are needed by the City of Avondale Estates for beautification/arts projects. The City will

contract with the Avondale Arts Alliance to facilitate a mural at the overpass portion of the Stone

Mountain Trail and a utility box mural project. Accessible art, particularly when it is placed in public

settings, has numerous quality of life benefits to all those who experience it. Citizens of the County and

City will benefit from the projects. This public art and beautification project serves an important role in deepening the County’s and the City of Avondale Estates’ ties to local artists and provides a sustainable

and collaborative creative outline for local artists to work with local government. It allows Avondale

Estates to make good on its promise to bring art to everyone.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

following award:

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To allocate an amount not to exceed $25,500.00 from the accounts listed herein to the City of Avondale Estates for a mural at the overpass portion of the Stone Mountain Trail and a utility box mural project and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents.
