PURPOSE:

CCHS, founded in May 2013, is a non-profit 501c(3) clinic that provides a patient-centered medical home for low-income residents in Clarkston and surrounding communities. This funding of $125,000 will provide support for a full time Clinic Director. This position will help expand cultural and linguistically competent primary and preventative health services more efficiently to the most vulnerable Immigrant and Refugee community that reside in DeKalb County.

NEED/IMPACT:

Georgia ranks low for access to services for its citizens, and we have significant disparity in access to health services for our Clarkston/Immigrant/Refugee community. With the closure of Wellstar, leaving a critical overflow to Grady, it is imperative to mitigate resources and care for the un/under insured. Through a mostly volunteer effort, primary and preventive health care, specialty clinics (including vision, dermatology, cardiology, mental health, and more), and free medications from their on-site pharmacy, CCHC seeks to expand their capacity to provide comprehensive, affordable, accessible and comprehensive health care services to those who otherwise have none. By making each patient healthier, CCHC is working to transform the health of our entire community.

This $125,000 will help build the capacity of the CCHC team by providing support for a full time Clinic Director to expand service provision more efficiently to individuals in and around Clarkston from around 750 annually to at least 1,250 annually, while also strengthening partnerships to unlock additional pro bono support.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for this allocation of $125,000 is from the District 7 Reserve For Appropriation.
