PURPOSE:
To Appropriate An Amount Not To Exceed $39,300 From The Super District 6 Reserve For Appropriations To Roots Down For Impact Analysis, Reporting, And Public Engagement Around DeKalb’s Regenerative Land Projects As Well As Landscape Installation And Site Management.
NEED/IMPACT:
DeKalb County has several regenerative landscaping sites, including the Clarkston library, Chamblee library, Stone Mountain trailside meadows, and roadside meadows, as well as committed to additional projects in the future. This proposal will map these projects in a portfolio that will include baseline data and projected future performance allowing the County to understand how these projects have provided fiscal, environmental, and community benefits. Additionally, this proposal includes student research on the performance of sites, storytelling and public engagement opportunities with a program on April 15 and coordinating billboards. The billboards are also surrounded by land that can be a living demonstration of the regenerative landscaping model. This proposal will also include landscaping designs, installation and maintenance SOPs, as well as the coordination to install a regenerative landscape. Start date is March 15, 2026 and end date is July 15, 2026.
$28,000 is for landscaping installation and site management of the land surrounding the billboards. $11,300 is for the mapping of projects, baseline and projected data, student-led impact research, reporting, storytelling, and public engagement.

To approve the allocation of $39,300.00 from the 2026 District 6 Reserve for Appropriation to Roots Down and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or her designee to execute all necessary documents
