PURPOSE:
To appropriate $10,000 from the 2024 District 2 Reserve for Appropriation to the 2024 STEM Summer Camp June 10 through June 14 in partnership with Georgia Piedmont Technical College Foundation.
NEED/IMPACT:
Georgia Piedmont Technical College’s Economic Development division has partnered with several local nonprofit organizations to develop this year’s Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Camp for middle and high school students. The organizations include CERM Legacy Foundation, The Becoming Project, Wundregrubs, Pharoah’s Conclave, Pitch Play Co., Opportunity Runway, and Start with Me. The STEM Camp will be held June 10 through June 14. STEM education equips students with the skills to think critically, solve problems, and make decisions based on data and evidence. Additionally, STEM education opens a world of possibilities for children, as it prepares them for a wide range of careers, from science and technology to medicine, engineering, and beyond. This allocation of $10,000 to the Georgia Piedmont Technical College Foundation will support instructional supplies, science/engineering kits, snacks and a commemorative t-shirt and souvenir for campers.

Recommended Action
To approve the appropriation of $10,000 from the 2024 District 2 Reserve for Appropriation to the 2024 STEM Summer Camp June 10 through June 14 in partnership with Georgia Piedmont Technical College Foundation and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
