*To consider authorizing the use of available SPLOST funds allocated for Police Services fleet acquisition to fund this purchase; and
*To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
DeKalb County Police Services respectfully requests approval to purchase sixteen (16) vehicles to support operational capacity and projected staffing growth in 2026. The Department anticipates a shortage of police vehicles due to increased hiring and retention efforts, combined with an estimated fleet deficit of approximately 100 vehicles. As sworn staffing levels grow, fleet availability must increase accordingly to ensure personnel have the tools necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Vehicle procurement, receipt, and emergency equipment upfitting require substantial lead time. If these vehicles are not purchased and outfitted during 2026, the Department risks not having sufficient operational vehicles available to meet service expectations. Proactively addressing this gap will protect prior investments in recruitment and retention initiatives and ensure operational readiness across patrol and specialized units
FISCAL IMPACT:
Request for Additions to the Fleet for Police Services will be paid from SPLOST funds.
