PURPOSE:

To accept an additional $152,086 for the previously accepted 2023 contract between the State of Georgia’s Department of Human Services (DHS) and the District Attorney’s Office for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023; and

To authorize the CEO to execute all necessary documents.

NEED/IMPACT:

The need for this contract is to continue the establishment, enforcement, and modification of child support orders and the processing of child support petitions on behalf of the DeKalb County custodial parents, residents, and citizens. The program, one of the largest of its kind in Georgia, generates over $15.5 million in annual child support payments.

The total program funding amount previously accepted was $1,954,645.80 comprised of federal funding in the amount of $1,290,066.23, State funding in the amount of $317,641.72, and a required County match of $346,937.85. To account for a projected shortfall this grant year, the State has increased the award by $100,376.76 in federal funds and $51,709.24 in State funds. The total increase is $152,086, for a revised total project of $2,106,732.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The $346,937.85 required cash match was previously included in the District Attorney’s 2022 Operating Budget. No additional funds are being requested at this time.
