PURPOSE:
To consider accepting and appropriating up to $320,000 from the Atlanta Regional Commission for a scoping study for safety and operational improvements on Redan Road from Holcombe Road to near South Hairston Road;
To consider appropriating $80,000 of SPLOST funds from line 1B - Federal and State Transportation Project Match Funds for Transportation Purposes; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of this project.
NEED/IMPACT:
ARC funding for this study was part of the 2019 TIP request approved by the Board of Commissioners on September 24, 2019. The purpose of this study is to develop viable, multimodal, and cost-effective mobility solutions and to study the feasibility of short- and long-range alternatives in improving the efficiency, operations, and safety of the corridor. Project deliverables will include an implementation plan for recommended improvements and a GDOT concept report. The concept report will assist in seeking additional state and federal funding.
FISCAL IMPACT:
SPLOST funds in the amount of $80,000 will cover the matching cost for this project.
