PURPOSE:
To appropriate $32,978.00 of District 6 Reserve for Appropriations to the City of Avondale Estates to support and expand the 2026 Shakespeare On The Green-Community Arts and Education series.
NEED/IMPACT:
This District 6 allocation continues supporting Avondale Estates initiative to bring free, professional Shakespeare performances to the public, transforming the Avondale Town Green into a vibrant, outdoor cultural space. This program launched in 2025 with 3 performances. They were very well received. In 2026, we are incorporating a Spring and Fall series increasing the number of productions to 6, beginning in March.
• Security for the AE officer-260 x 6 $1,560
• A/V vendor-$3k x 6 performancesn$18,000
• Shakespeare Tavern actor fees-$2k x 6 performances $12,000
• Marketing and event collaterals for Spring and Fall-$1,418.00
This effort stands as both a proof of concept and a launching point for future cultural programming countywide. It highlights a partnership of capacity to lead, build partnerships, navigate logistics, and create meaningful, sustainable community experiences through public-private collaboration.

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the allocation of $32,978.00 from the 2026 District 6 Reserve for Appropriation to the City of Avondale Estates to support and expand the 2026 Shakespeare On The Green Community Arts and Education Series and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or her designee to execute all necessary documents.
