PURPOSE:

To accept subgrant award in the amount of $100,896 awarded by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to the County for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, which is the county’s adult misdemeanor mental health court. The MMHC is fully certified by the State of Georgia through February 28, 2028.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The grant funds will be used to continue to support the court’s mission in a collaborative effort with other entities and agencies in the decriminalization of persons living with serious mental illness engaged in the criminal justice system. Through the efforts of the MMHC, these funds will be used to defray costs associated with the MMHC’s operations, administration, medication, transportation, and treatment options for participants.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The county is required to provide a 15% match of funds awarded. A match in the amount of $17,805 will be requested from the county.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To accept the grant funds in the amount of $100,896 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court and to provide for county match funds in the amount of $17,805.                                     

To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
