PURPOSE:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $12,400.00 from the District 6 Youth Reserve for Appropriations to Scottdale Learning Center to assist with childcare expenses for families/children
NEED/IMPACT:
Although the waiting list is long, the majority of the low to moderate income families on that list simply cannot afford the tuition fees at Scottdale and require full or partial financial help. Many of their families remain in critical need of childcare services as they struggle to find or retain viable employment after the pandemic. Scottdale Learning Center’s goal is to bridge that gap to provide more scholarship support to their waiting list of over 300 children who deserve the very same access to high quality education as those from higher household income ranges.
This District 6 appropriation will assist as follows:

Recommended Action
To approve the requested 2024 D6 Youth Programs Reserve for appropriation to the Scottdale Learning Center and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or his designee to execute all necessary documents.
