PURPOSE:
To consider adopting the attached Resolutions and to submit applications to the GDNR for consideration of funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and from the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program (GOSP) for Improvement Projects at Exchange Park, Chapel Hill Park, and Davidson Arabia Nature Preserve and Pleasant Park Improvement Project and To Authorize the Chief Executive Officer and Department Designee to execute the necessary documents related to the applications.
NEED/IMPACT:
GDNR is designated aa the administrator for the LWCF and GOSP programs and has released a call for applications for federal funding. To be considered for project funding, a resolution of support is required from the Board of Commissioners. The Resolution also contains specific project(s) the County seeks to fund. Applications are due to GDNR by October 2, 2026, for LCWF and October 16, 2026, for GOSP to receive consideration. The requested federal funding is $3,250,000 with a proposed local match of $4,500,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The local match is proposed to be funded from the SPLOST II category, C1 for Exchange Park, Chapel Hill Park, and Davidson Arabia Nature Preserve and for project 2, Pleasantdale Park from CIP award 602890.106559.01.541200.

To adopt the attached Resolution and approve the submission of an application to GDNR for consideration of federal funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and for the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program (GOSP): Lake and Dam Renovation Projects at Exchange Park (2775 Columbia Drive), Chapel Hill Park (4002 Lehigh Boulevard), and Davidson Arabia Nature Preserve (7162 South Goddard Road) and Plesantdale Park Improvement Project (3650 Pleasantdale Road) and To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute necessary documents related to the application.
