PURPOSE:

To approve the appropriation of $700,000 from District 3 CARES Fund from POETA Account #
105424.63258.521209.01.03.602313 to support Rent, Mortgage, Utilities, Food, Testing, Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) assistance and Arts Program for those impacted by COVID-19. 

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The funds are being appropriated to help the many families within District 3 that have

experienced job loss, reduced wages and require emergency assistance during the pandemic. The funding will

be provided to Community Based Organizations (CBO) to help sustain the families during this difficult period.

DeKalb County Community Development will have oversight for the program management, administering and

monitoring of the funds to the appropriate agencies.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The funding will come from District 3 CARES Fund from POETA Account # 105424.63258.521209.01.03. and appropriated to the following agencies:

o DeKalb Creative Community Program - $250,000 (Arts and Culture Programming)

o New Life Community Ministries Inc. - $150,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)

o Atlanta Legal Aide - $100,000 (Evictions, Legal Counsel and Advice)

o Women Moving On Inc. - $50,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)

o Atlanta Masjid Inc. - $50,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)

o Oak Hurst Medical Center - $50,000 (Personal Protective Equipment & Testing)

o Greater Piney Grove Community Development Inc. - $50,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
