PURPOSE:
To allocate $25,000 from District 2 Reserve for Appropriation to DeKalb Schools Foundation to support educational field trips
NEED/IMPACT:
This allocation will expand access to high-quality environmental and STEAM education by removing financial barriers that prevent many District 2 students from participating in educational field trips. Building on the success of last year's program, which provided field trip opportunities to more than 900 students across 12 schools, the requested funding will enable additional elementary and middle school students-particularly those from low-income families-to experience hands-on learning that reinforces classroom instruction, inspires future academic and career interests, and exposes many students to places and experiences they would not otherwise have the opportunity to visit. By investing in these experiential learning opportunities, the County will help ensure that a student's financial circumstances do not limit access to meaningful educational experiences that support long-term academic success.
