PURPOSE:
To approve the creation of a Victim Witness Program Advocate and a Supervising Attorney positions in District Attorney's Human Trafficking and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (HT/ICAC);
To approve the creation of a D.A.'s Investigator III position in the D.A.'s Cold Case Unit; and
To approve the addition to the fleet of one law enforcement sedan for the D.A.'s Cold Case Unit; and
To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute any necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
The District Attorney was approved for $323,703 in the FY2025 budget to further work in vital grant-created units. Included in this funding approval was a Supervising Attorney (job code 38110), Victim Witness Program Advocate (job code 39050) for Human Trafficking, and an Investigator III (job code 39035) and law enforcement vehicle for Cold Case. However, the funding was allocated incorrectly in the FY2025 budget which did not allow for the creation of the position.
The positions are requested to be created, with an onset date of April 1, 2025. The vehicle is requested to be added to the fleet. Funds are available for the positions and equipment in the DA's funding line 3910.100.521209. The current agenda item is a procedural step to create the already funded positions, effective April 1, 2025, and to approve the addition to the fleet for the law enforcement vehicle.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The positions and required law enforcement vehicle were previously funded in the budget process. No additional funding is being requested.
