PURPOSE:
Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act, where, “The chief executive shall nominate a person for appointment,” CEO Michael Thurmond is nominating Sheriff Melody Maddox for appointment to the Community Service Board. This term will begin upon confirmation by the Board of Commissioners and will expire when Sheriff Maddox is no longer in office.
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb Community Service Board provides mental health, developmental disability, and addictive diseases at its facilities in DeKalb County. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 37-2-6(b)(3), Sherriff Maddox will serve as one of the five (5) members holding elective or appointive office. Her appointment to the board will help enhance the mission as the mental health safety net provider for DeKalb County.
