PURPOSE:
To consider reserving $3,614,622 of SPLOST funds from line 1B - Federal and State Transportation Project Match Funds for Transportation Purposes for the Constitution Road Freight Corridor Operational and Safety Improvements - Phase 1 project;
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary document for completion of this project.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Metro South Community Improvement District (MSCID) has received a $1 million Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB) grant for safety and operational improvements to the Constitution Road freight corridor. Proposed improvements include intersection improvements and a traffic signal at the SR 42/ Bailey Street intersection and a roundabout at the Bailey St./Fayetteville Rd./Fleetwood Dr./Woodstock Rd. intersection. The project will improve access to SR 42 and I-285 for the numerous freight and truck oriented businesses in the Constitution Road area.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total estimated cost of the project is $4,814,622, with $200,000 of funding from MSCID and $1,000,000 of funding from the GTIB grant. The proposed county contribution from SPLOST category 1B is $3,614,622.00

Recommended Action
To reserve $3,614,622 of SPLOST funds from line 1B - Federal and State Transportation Project Match Funds for Transportation Purposes for the Constitution Road Freight Corridor Operational and Safety Improvements - Phase 1 project; and
To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of this project.
