The purpose of this Agenda Item is to Allocate an amount not to exceed $1,000 of District 7 RESERVE FOR APPROPRIATION Planning & Sustainability for World Planning Day 2026.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Planning & Sustainability World Planning Day 2026 is an important investment in promoting thoughtful growth, community engagement, and long-term visioning for DeKalb County. World Planning Day provides a platform to highlight the essential role of planning in shaping safe, sustainable, and equitable communities, while also educating residents about how planning decisions impact daily life-from transportation and housing to environmental stewardship and economic development. Supporting this initiative allows the County to showcase best practices, strengthen public awareness, and encourage collaboration among residents, professionals, and local leaders. This modest allocation helps ensure that World Planning Day 2026 is an impactful, accessible event that reinforces the County’s commitment to intentional, community-centered planning.
