PURPOSE:

Approve the disbursement of $2,398,131 of opioid settlement funds to Claratel Behavioral Health ($1,343,742); DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office ($620,035) and DeKalb Public Health ($434,354) to assist County residents suffering from opioid use disorder focusing on opioid use disorder prevention and treatment. 

 

NEED/IMPACT:

DeKalb County, in line with the Country as a whole, has a significant number of residents suffering from opioid use disorder. The settlement funds focus on the prevention of opioid use disorder and opioid overdoses, medication-assisted treatment and increasing access to opioid treatment among incarcerated individuals.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The County has received approximately $4.5 million in settlement funds from Kroger, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, Janssen, Allergan and Teva.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Approve the disbursement of $2,398,131 of opioid settlement funds to Claratel Behavioral Health ($1,343,742); DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office ($620,035) and DeKalb Public Health ($434,354) to assist County residents suffering from opioid use disorder and authorize the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer to execute all necessary documents in connection with this matter.
