PURPOSE:

To consider declaring 25 vacant properties as surplus in unincorporated DeKalb County and the City of Lithonia from the County’s database of properties to the DeKalb Regional Land Bank Authority (DRLBA).

NEED/IMPACT:

DRLBA has identified properties held by the County as properties appropriate for its mission.   DRLBA will seek to repurpose the properties and offer them for sale through an application process with a priority for affordable housing, economic development and blight removal.  In addition, adjacent property owners will benefit from the transfer of small side lots. The emphasis for the property sales will be to stabilize neighborhoods and restore said properties to the Tax Digest.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No Cost to the County.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To declare 25 vacant County owned properties as surplus; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents to transfer said 25 vacant properties in unincorporated DeKalb County and the City of Lithonia from the County’s database of properties to the DeKalb Regional Land Bank Authority.
