Proposed Approval of the Sale of Vote Center HUBs

PURPOSE:

To approve the selling of surplus vote hubs to interested counties and jurisdictions and utilize generated revenue for VRE operations.

NEED/IMPACT:

The County purchased vote center hubs in 2023 to adhere to election-related laws. Due to a recent change in a provision of the Georgia election statute, counties now have more flexibility in determining the amount of voting equipment to deploy on Election Day. As such, there are a number of hubs that are no longer required inventory for Election Day. D1 hubs were purchased at $975/ unit and D2 hubs were purchased at $1,875/unit. The recommended re-sale prices are $731.25/unit for D1 hubs and $1,406.25/unit for D2 hubs. These hubs are in excellent condition and have been properly stored.

In support of the administration’s county-wide cost containment effort, this proposal offers the opportunity to recover costs and improve operational efficiency by selling the surplus vote center hubs that are no longer required.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact to the DeKalb County. The estimated revenue is $209,025.
