PURPOSE:

To consider entering into a project with the PATH Foundation for $30,700.00 for a feasibility study for extending the South Fork Peachtree Creek Trail from Medlock Park to North DeKalb Mall;
To consider appropriating $30,700.00 of SPLOST funds from line 1E - Multi Use Trails; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of this project.

NEED/IMPACT:

The current trail connects Emory University, Mason Mill Park, Medlock Park, and the Leafmore neighborhood. The proposed study will consider ways to extend South Fork Peachtree Creek Trail from its current endpoint at Medlock Park to the North DeKalb Mall site, the Little Creek Horse Farm, and the Laurel Ridge neighborhood.  This connection was included in the 2000 DeKalb’s Greenway Trails plan and in the 2014 Transportation Plan.

FISCAL IMPACT:

SPLOST funds in the amount of $30,700.00 will cover the cost of the study.
