PURPOSE:

 

To declare an approximately 138.9 acre site (designated as parcel id 15 083 01 003; 15 083 01 004; 15 083 02 002; and 15 083 02 003) located in unincorporated DeKalb County, Georgia at 2109 Bouldercrest Road, S.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30316 as a “pocket of blight” as defined in Section 36-61-2(15) of the Urban Redevelopment Law (Section 36-61-1 et seq., Official Code of Georgia Annotated) that is appropriate for an urban redevelopment project. 

 

NEED/IMPACT:

 

This is the first step to enable the County to use the $1.7 million of unspent URA bond proceeds to pay for the cost of the following urban redevelopment project:  an ADA compliant playground; trail signage; water splash; forest and ecological rehabilitation; pavilion; outdoor education and restroom at the Bouldercrest Road site.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

Expenditure of approximately $1.7 million of unspent URA bond proceeds

Recommended Action

Recommend approval of a resolution designating such 138.9 acre site on Bouldercrest Road as a “pocket of blight” as described in as defined in Section 36-61-2(15) of the Urban Redevelopment Law that is appropriate for an urban redevelopment project.
