PURPOSE:

To appoint Lee May as Chief of Staff for the Board of Commissioners, DeKalb County Government, and authorize the Presiding Officer to sign an employment agreement for the selected candidate on behalf of the Board of Commissioners in a form approved by the Law Department.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Chief of Staff is a critical position, as it offers operational and strategic support to the BOC, as well as management and direction to the central staff. The selected candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, a solid understanding of government operations, and the ability to work effectively with elected and appointed officials.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Neutral and within the personnel budget of the Board of Commissioners.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Appoint Lee May as Chief of Staff for the Board of Commissioners, effective March 2, 2026, and authorize the Presiding Officer to sign an employment agreement for the selected candidate on behalf of the Board of Commissioners in a form approved by the Law Department.
