PURPOSE:
To approve the resolution to review and amend the Board of Commissioners Standing Procedural Rules.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Board of Commissioners last reviewed the Board of Commissioners Standing Procedural Rules in 2019. Several constituents expressed concern and criticism about the current rules related to public comment, specifically active engagement of Commissioners during or following the public comment period of the business meetings. After a preliminary review, it was revealed that two critical statements in the public comment rules were eliminated in the 2019 version of the Standing Procedural Rules. In addition, other updates and grammatical errors need to be addressed. The attached resolution responds to this immediate need and outlines a structured approach to reviewing and amending the Standing Procedural Rules of the DeKalb Board of Commissioners, emphasizing transparency, community engagement, and the establishment of a committee for thorough evaluation and recommendations
