PURPOSE:
The Recreation, Park and Cultural Affairs Department seeks Board of Commissioners approval to rename a portion of Lithonia Park to DeKalb Lithonia Park.
NEED/IMPACT:
Renaming this portion of the park to reflect the new recreation center will strengthen community identity and highlight the expanded services now available at the site. The new name will help residents easily recognize the area as a central hub for recreation, wellness, and intergenerational programming. It also supports clear wayfinding, enhances the park’s visibility, and aligns the space with its updated purpose and increased community value. This renaming reinforces the county’s investment in accessible, modern facilities and creates a unified destination that reflects the community’s priorities and long-term growth.
