PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the acceptance of funds up to $150,000 for the remainder of fiscal year 2021, and in perpetuity, for the Collection of Participant Fines into a new Grant Fund Account.
NEED/IMPACT:
INSPIRE Family Treatment Court is an 18-24 month comprehensive program that utilizes a team approach to work with adults and children in DeKalb Family and Children Services (DFCS) custody who struggle with drug addiction. INSPIRE Family Treatment Court participants may be responsible for paying fines associated with missed or late appointments. The fines are a minimum of $15 and a maximum of $50 depending on the severity of the sanction(s). The fines are used to offset costs for supportive services including drug abuse and mental health treatment, housing, transportation, supplies, training, and other components necessary to sustain the program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
INSPIRE Family Treatment Court participants may be responsible for paying fines associated with missed or late appointments. The fines are a minimum of $15 and a maximum of $50 depending on the severity of the sanction(s). Funds will be placed in a new grant account to offset costs for the Family Treatment Court for the remainder of 2021 and in perpetuity. This action has no cost implications on the county.
