PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Agenda Item is to Allocate an amount not to exceed $3,500 to the Women’s Resource Center and $3,500 to the International Women’s House for Domestic Violence Survivors and Awareness.
NEED/IMPACT:
This is a critical investment in the safety, stability, and recovery of domestic violence survivors in our DeKalb community. The Women’s Resource Center & International Women’s House organizations provide life-saving services-including emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, and long-term support-that many survivors cannot access elsewhere. Funding this agenda item strengthens the county’s commitment to raising awareness, reducing harm, and ensuring that women and families facing violence have immediate, compassionate, and professional help. By supporting these two trusted agencies, the county helps protect vulnerable residents, promotes healing, and reinforces a communitywide stance that domestic violence will not be ignored or tolerated.
