PURPOSE:
Consists of purchasing from the competitively let Sourcewell Contract# 01042-VKN for the purchase of sixty-five (65) Tri-Certified Viking Gear Shield Gear, for the purposes of life safety equipment to be used by the firefighters throughout the County. This purchase includes the coats and pants, applicable warranties, and freight. The gear is intended for all emergency responses requiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), except for structural firefighting incidents. The acquisition of Viking Shield multi-purpose gear will enhance firefighter safety and operational readiness. This gear is designed to improve mobility, comfort, and overall performance while reducing the risk of heat stress during emergency responses. The triple-certification and distinct design ensures firefighters have appropriate protection for a wide range of emergency situations outside structural firefighting. This request seeks to ratify Purchase Order No. 5058768 issued November 29, 2025, as prices would have increased by $15,000.00 if not purchased by December 31, 2025.
