PURPOSE:
This contract consists of providing the maintenance, upgrades, technical support and monitoring to support the 16-year-old proprietary Motorola P-25 SmartZone Radio System, towers and modems originally approved for purchase by the BOC on June 7, 2006. This system is critical in servicing first responders and the citizens of DeKalb County. The manufacturer is the only source with the necessary access and expertise to provide support to the communications system. This sole source request consists of the ongoing maintenance, upgrades, technical support and network monitoring of the County’s Radio Network infrastructure for five (5) years.

Recommend approval of the sole source with:
Motorola Solutions, Inc., 1700 Belle Meade Court, Lawrenceville, GA 30043
Amount Not To Exceed: $17,242,831.26
and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute the contract and all associated documents.
