PURPOSE:

The County has an opportunity to purchase the AFS facility (equipment, structures, fuel sales agreements, and sub-leasehold interest in the land) at 4420 Buford Highway, Chamblee, Georgia 30341.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The County owns two compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations and they are located in south and central DeKalb. This item facilitates purchase of third CNG fueling station to better serve County operations in north DeKalb and save the County a projected $940,075.00 in fuel costs per year. The projected savings are based on the amount DeKalb historically paid to AFS at this location.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Purchase & renovation of costs of $2.6 million, including earnest money payments in the amount of an initial, refundable payment of $100,000.00 and a second payment in the amount $50,000.00, making all earnest money non-refundable, at the expiration of the due diligence period.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Authorize the purchase of AFS’s CNG fueling station at 4420 Buford Highway, Chamblee, Georgia 30341 for a total purchase price of $1,800,000.00, plus associated costs, accept the assignment of the AFS sub-lease, and authorize the CEO to execute the necessary documents, in a form approved by the County Attorney.
