Body
Information Contact: Darnell Fullum, Director of Public Safety
Phone Number: (678) 406-7731
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this project is to initiate a comprehensive planning and design effort to evaluate existing conditions, assess projected space needs, and identify long-term infrastructure requirements for the DeKalb County Police and Fire Rescue Departments.
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb County Police and Fire Departments currently conduct training operations across multiple locations, including the Bruce Street facility in Lithonia, the firing range on North Goddard Road, headquarters facilities on West Exchange Place in Tucker, and the Fire Training Facility on Warren Road in Decatur. The decentralized nature of these facilities creates operational inefficiencies, space limitations, and infrastructure constraints. Several of the buildings are aging and were not originally designed to support modern public safety training requirements.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding will be provided through SPLOST I under Category 2H - Planning & Design.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
