PURPOSE:

To assist the county by providing “Warming and Cooling Center” services to Homeless citizens of DeKalb encountering potential health risks due to inclement weather. The contract will include providing shelter, food, transportation, and staffing of all seven (7) locations. Additionally, six (6) “Transportation Pickup” locations will be included in the contract. The budget allocation of $420,000 covers a full fiscal year of the aforementioned services countywide.  

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The services provided by this contract will assist the county with addressing critical needs of our Homeless citizens during inclement weather. It is anticipated that there will be at least 61 activations during the winter and an undetermined number of summer activations. Frontline Response has increased its capacity this year by adding two additional backup locations to supplement the 2585 Gresham Road location

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The cost to the County is $420,000.

Funding Source - Non-Departmental/General Fund.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve a contract with Frontline Response to provide “Warming and Cooling Center Services; shelter, food, staffing, and transportation for our Homeless citizens for an amount not to exceed $420,000; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
