PURPOSE:
To consider accepting $2,500 from Atlanta Regional Commission Lifelong Communities Min-Grant Project to provide Nutrition Education to older adults residing in Zip codes 30083 and 30087. Through interactive educational sessions and healthy food demonstrations, participants will gain practical knowledge and skills that empower them to make informed decisions that support their physical, emotional, and social well-being. By expanding access to preventive wellness education and healthy aging resources, this initiative will advance the broader Human Services goals of promoting holistic health, increasing longevity, and improving health outcomes for older adults. The program will also foster meaningful social connections, encourage healthy behaviors, and address factors that contribute to poor health outcomes and social isolation within underserved communities.

NEED/IMPACT:
The Atlanta Regional Commission's Living Beyond Expectations Study, identified multiple zip codes as having lower life expectancy rates and are in need of increased access to preventive health and wellness resources.
This nutrition education grant will assist the Human Services Department to enhance our organization's capacity to address health disparities, chronic disease prevention, nutrition access, social isolation, and overall wellness among older adults in the communities we serve.
