PURPOSE:
Application of the Director of Planning & Sustainability for the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners to hold a public hearing to consider and review whether to extend a moratorium on Data Centers in DeKalb County.
NEED/IMPACT:
The proposed extension of the moratorium allows County Staff and governing authority time to study the impacts of data centers on the public safety and general welfare of County residents, and to craft and potentially adopt regulations to counter or ameliorate any such negative impacts.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The proposed moratorium is not expected to have a direct fiscal impact on the County. Any indirect fiscal impacts associated with staff research, legal review, public engagement, or future ordinance development are expected to be absorbed within existing departmental resources.
