PURPOSE:
To consider accepting funds in the amount of $2,473,177.30 in Federal and State funds from the Atlanta Regional Commission for aging services for the period July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027; to consider authorizing the Finance Department to issue payments to subcontractors using these Federal and State funds.

NEED/IMPACT:
The Human Services' Office of Aging has provided services to DeKalb seniors for over 23 years, as the designated County Based Aging Program/Nutrition Services Provider for DeKalb County. The Office of Aging manages the senior services which include Transportation, Case Management, Information and Referral, Congregate Meals, Homemaker Services, Personal Care, Home Delivered Meals, and Respite Care Services. The amount the County hopes to receive for planning purposes consist of both Federal and State funds. Additionally, the required County match is $172,932.68 which will be taken from project/award number 106563/602876, bringing the total amount for senior services for SFY 2027 to $2,646,109.98. This estimated amount is for planning purposes.
This amount may increase or decrease based on the budget changes in the allocation the Atlanta Regional Commission receives from Georgia Department of Human Services. Additionally, The ARC funding pays for four (4) case management positions as well and eight (8) senior center management positions.

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact to the County as the required match will be taken from the already approved funds in the Reserve for Seniors award. 106563/602876.
