PURPOSE:
To allocate $15,000 from the District 2 Reserve for Appropriation to Bella’s Blessings to support pet owners in need.
NEED/IMPACT:
The allocation to Bella’s Blessings is needed to implement a preventative, low-cost intervention that addresses documented financial barriers to pet care in DeKalb County, where 72% of surveyed residents reported being unable to afford pet food or veterinary services in recent years and shelter capacity has exceeded available space. By installing and maintaining Pet Blessing Boxes and providing a County-specific digital resource directory, the program delivers immediate access to free pet supplies while connecting residents to low-cost services, helping families keep their pets and reducing strain on DeKalb Animal Services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
An amount not to exceed $15,000 from District 2 Reserve for Appropriation (00202.579002.100.0000.0000).
