PURPOSE:
To consider accepting an additional FTA 5310 funds in the amount of $229,538.00 from the Atlanta Regional Commission with a match of $57,384.50 for Transportation for the period October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024; This amount will be added to the previous amount of $23,991.25 that was approved on 5/14/204 - Agenda Item 2024-0315, bringing the new total of FTA 5310 funds to $229,538; to approve the required match and to consider authorizing the Finance Department to issue payments to subcontractors using these federal funds.

NEED/IMPACT:
Many County residents are unfortunately transportation disadvantaged due to health conditions, physical limitations, or lack of access to MARTA Mobility ADA Paratransit. The Human Services Department plans to use these funds for new transportation initiatives that will address the needs of some of the residents. This includes serving persons with disabilities who need door to door, and/or escorted transportation service. Currently, the existing Transportation Voucher program provides service to adults age 60 and older, but funding is limited for persons with disabilities and those under the age of 60. This funding will be used to extend the voucher program to County residents with disabilities between the ages of 18-59. The department currently uses a Transportation App, namely DeKalb Aging Database (DAD).
