PURPOSE:
The Purpose of this Agenda Item is to provide funding for the DeKalb Section of National Council of Negro Women to provide high school senior Scholarships.
NEED/IMPACT:
The National Council of Negro Women, Inc., DeKalb Section’s Scholarship Programming for high school seniors is a vital investment in the county’s future, empowering young scholars-particularly those from historically underrepresented DeKalb communities-with access to higher education and career opportunities. By supporting students who have been accepted to accredited colleges, universities, or trade schools, the program helps break cycles of economic disparity and fosters a culture of academic excellence and civic engagement. To approve an allocation not to exceed $10,000 of the District 7 Reserve for Appropriation for scholarship programming and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
