PURPOSE:

The Purpose of this Agenda Item is to provide funding for the DeKalb Section of National Council of Negro Women to provide educational programming through the Science Technology Engineering Art & Math (STEAM) program.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The National Council of Negro Women, Inc., DeKalb Section’s STEAM Educational Programming is a vital investment in the county’s future. It empowers young scholars-particularly those from historically underrepresented communities in DeKalb-with access to STEAM education and career pathways. By exposing students to transformative learning experiences, these programs help break cycles of economic disparity while fostering a culture of academic excellence and civic engagement.

This initiative not only broadens educational access but also affirms the county’s commitment to equity, leadership development, and the upliftment of youth who will shape the region’s social, economic, and educational future.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

An Amount not to exceed $10,000 of the District 7 Reserve for Appropriation, contributed towards educational programming through the Science Technology Engineering Art & Math (STEAM) program.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve an allocation not to exceed $10,000 of the District 7 Reserve for Appropriation for educational STEAM programming and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
