PURPOSE:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $3,800 of District 6 Reserve for Appropriations to Roots Down to oversee site preparation, ongoing maintenance, identification of additional priority sites, and continued coordination for all District 6 Meadow Projects through 2025.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Meadow initiative has transformed DeKalb County landscapes, right of ways, and roadsides into pollinator-friendly habitats that improve soil health, require less fossil fuel maintenance, provide beauty, and fosters community engagement and education. These funds will go towards continuing to advance this initiative through 2025 which includes site preparation and seeding of the Stone Mountain Trail meadow, identifying additional priority sites for future installations, ongoing strategic coordination of all meadow sites, and development of educational media. This project will begin following approval by the Board of Commissioners and will conclude on December 31, 2025.
