PURPOSE:
The purpose of this agenda item is to consider the approval of precinct boundary changes as set forth in the attachments hereto. Under Section 9(7) of the Organizational Act and O.C.G.A. § 21-2-262(d), the Governing Authority must approve precinct boundary changes.
NEED/IMPACT:
Three changes are proposed to reduce the distance that certain voters will travel to vote. Three additional changes are proposed to align precinct boundaries with municipal annexations. These realignments alleviate the potential privacy concerns that would otherwise result if a small number of voters in a precinct were registered to vote in a municipality.
A total of 3,899 voters are affected.
The Board of Registration and Elections found that the proposed changes promoted the convenience of the electors and the public interest and voted to recommend these changes to the Governing Authority on February 13, 2025.
The Department of Voter Registration and Elections published notice of the proposed changes in the County legal organ on February 27, 2025 as required by law.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This agenda item does not have any fiscal impact on the County.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
Approve the election precinct boundary changes set forth in the attachments hereto as recommended by the Board of Registration and Elections on February 13, 2025.
