PURPOSE:
To appropriate District 7 reserves for the establishment of a youth farm for youth who reside in DeKalb County.
NEED/IMPACT:
The $75,500 appropriation to the Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Affairs Department will be used to establish a farm for youth in DeKalb County, which includes the cost of land restoration, cost for repair and renovation of building structure(s), purchase and installation of a professional greenhouse, cost to purchase and install an industrial honey bee farm, and cost to purchase and erect a roadside historic marker. Youth participants will learn farming and food cultivation, receive entrepreneurial training, as well as develop holistic life skills.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Increase appropriations for the following accounts by the amounts indicated below:
Contributions - Designated Services Fund - Transfer to CIP Fund (09043.611350.271.0000.0000) - $75,500
Decrease appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:
Non-Departmental - Designated Services Fund - Reserve for Appropriation (09120.579002.271.0000.0000) - $75,500
