PURPOSE:

To consider adopting an ordinance to authorize paid parental leave for eligible merit status employees and expand the permissible use of sick leave for elder care purposes for eligible merit status employees

 

NEED/IMPACT:

To support the health and well-being of DeKalb County merit status employees and their families.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Unknown at this time.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Adopt the attached ordinance to authorize paid parental leave for eligible merit status employees and expand the permissible use of sick leave for elder care purposes for eligible merit status employees.  Paid parental leave for eligible employees under the terms and conditions of this ordinance would be available only for births and placements that occur after the effective date of this ordinance and will be available only in those budget years when the governing authority chooses to fund paid parental leave
