This request seeks to ratify the purchase from the competitively let Sourcewell Contract for the provision of sixty-five (65) Tri-Certified Viking Shield Gear to be used by firefighters throughout the County. PURPOSE:
Consists of ratifying the purchasing from the competitively let Sourcewell Contract# 01042-VKN for the provision of sixty-five (65) Tri-Certified Viking Gear Shield Gear, for the purposes of use life safety equipment to be used by the firefighters throughout the County. This purchase includes the coats and pants, applicable warranties, and freight. The department conducted an evaluation of multi-purpose protective gear, with Station 19 B participating in the field testing. Based on the results, the Viking Shield multi-purpose gear was selected. The gear is intended for all emergency responses requiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), except for structure firefighting incidents. The acquisition of Viking Shield multi-purpose gear will enhance firefighter safety and operational readiness. This gear is designed to improve mobility, comfort, and overall performance while reducing the risk of heat stress during emergency responses.
