PURPOSE:
The Purpose of this Agenda Item is to provide funding for the Stonecrest Fest.
NEED/IMPACT:
Supporting Stonecrest Fest programming that celebrates both the arts and STEM is a meaningful investment in DeKalb County’s cultural vitality, educational advancement, and economic future. As communities work to prepare young people for an increasingly innovation-driven world, there is a growing need for opportunities that integrate creativity, technology, and hands-on learning. Stonecrest Fest provides a unique platform where residents, students, artists, educators, and innovators can connect through experiences that showcase the intersection of artistic expression and scientific discovery. By highlighting local talent, exposing youth to STEM career pathways, and fostering community engagement through culturally enriching activities, the festival strengthens community pride, promotes lifelong learning, and expands access to opportunities that inspire the next generation of creators, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers. The impact extends beyond the event itself by cultivating a more connected, skilled, and culturally vibrant DeKalb County.
FISCAL IMPACT:
An Amount not to exceed $10,000 of the District 7 Reserve for Appropriations funding, contributed towards Stonecrest Fest.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve an allocation not to exceed $10,000 of the District 7 Reserve for Appropriations funding for the Stonecrest Fest and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
