PURPOSE:
The Purpose of this agenda item is to provide funding not to exceed $2,500 of the District 7 ARP Interest to support senior programming through Lou Walker Senior Center.
NEED/IMPACT:
The allocation of up to $2,500 of District 7 ARP Interest funding to support senior programming through the Lou Walker Senior Center is a meaningful investment in the health, stability, and quality of life of older adults in DeKalb County. Strengthening senior services expands access to wellness activities, social engagement opportunities, and critical support resources that help residents age safely and confidently in their communities. This funding enables the Center to enhance programming that reduces isolation, promotes physical and mental well-being, and connects seniors with trusted community partners. By supporting one of the county’s most active and accessible senior hubs, this agenda item directly benefits DeKalb residents and reinforces the County’s commitment to dignity, inclusion, and equitable access to enrichment for older adults.
